Looking after your skin
Aftercare depends on your treatment and the product used. Follow the written instructions given at your appointment and contact your practitioner if you are unsure.
Before you leave, ask when to restart your usual skincare, exercise and other activities, and whether you need a review. Keep your practitioner’s contact details and instructions to hand.

After dermal fillers
Avoid pressing or massaging the area unless your practitioner specifically tells you to. Discuss swelling, bruising, sun exposure and exercise before you leave. Keep your follow-up details to hand.
About dermal fillersAfter dermaplaning
Treat the skin gently and follow advice about sun protection and skincare. Do not repeat exfoliation or shave the treated area before your practitioner says it is appropriate. Ask for advice if irritation worsens or you notice signs of infection.
About dermaplaningWhen to get urgent help
After filler, unusual or worsening pain, pale, grey or blue skin, or a change in vision needs immediate medical assessment. Do not wait for a routine review.
Call 999 for sudden loss of vision, stroke symptoms, severe breathing difficulty or swelling of the mouth or throat. For other urgent concerns, contact the treating practitioner promptly or NHS 111 if you cannot reach them.
